Zoe Dzineku is a pathfinder, consensus builder, and woman of faith. She believes that all families should have the opportunity to thrive and that policy is for people: so government should work to remove the obstacles that get in their way. For years she raised her two girls, Georgia and Chloe, as a single mother. Zoe moved her way up in the corporate world, built up her own small business, and transitioned to public service with a focus on constituent services at the Massachusetts legislature. As Chair of the Election Commission, Zoe successfully challenged the Lowell election office’s plan to significantly reduce the number of polling locations for Lowell’s historic 2021 municipal election. Now, she is poised to draw upon her experience to represent Centralville, Pawtucketville, and North Chelmsford as a servant leader.
Zoe was born in Liberia, on the western coast of Africa. While her mother moved to the U.S. to make a better life for her family, Zoe spent two years in the care of her aunt. Then Zoe emigrated to the U.S. at the tender age of 4 years old. The flight attendant made Zoe feel welcome by giving her a Pan AM flight pin.
“I know what it means to navigate through the world feeling invisible and unheard. I also know that people in Lowell and North Chelmsford can find an upward path, because my own family flourished here - with hard work and community support. Only when we engage in honest conversations around the issues that are most important to us will we create the change we all desire.”
Life in the U.S. presented both enormous challenges and opportunities. Zoe’s mother worked two jobs and long hours to make ends meet and for her children to have a chance at an education. Zoe grew up in the Centralville and South Lowell neighborhoods and attended the Greenhalge School and Lowell High. While Zoe discovered a love of learning, sports, and student government in high school, she knew it was only possible because of her mother’s perseverance.
Today Zoe lives in the Centralville neighborhood of Lowell with her husband, Michael, and her two daughters. With her personal and professional experience, Zoe will blaze a new path for our district.
